Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture academic staff member, Chair of INTBAU Cyprus and Vice Chair of INTBAU International Management Team, Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek successfully represented Cyprus and EMU at the 5th International Conference organized with the theme of“Progress in Tradition” within the scope of the 25th year events of the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism (INTBAU). The said event took place between 22 and 24 October 2025 in London.

 

Active Participation and Strong Representation from INTBAU Cyprus

Architects, urban planners, academics and practitioners from different parts of the world attended the event where they exchanged views on the integration of traditional values with contemporary architecture, the preservation of cultural heritage, and sustainable design approaches.

 

Actively participating in the meetings of INTBAU’s managing organ International College of Chapters (ICC) and Management Team (MT), Prof. Dr. Dinçyürek took on an important role in determining the future strategies of the organization.


Prof. Dr. Dinçyürek highlighted that INTBAU Cyprus, which represents the entire island, plays a significant role in the Mediterranean region, and he briefed participants on the organization’s activities during the conference session.

 

Making evaluations following the conference, Prof. Dr. Dinçyürek stated, “Integrating the local values of traditional architecture with contemporary approaches is crucial for the future of sustainable architecture. In this regard, INTBAU successfully upholds and advances this awareness on a global scale”.
