The second edition of Champion Angels Volleyball Tournament organized by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Student Development, Events and Sports Affairs Directorate was completed with the final matches held on Wednesday, 15 April 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Complex. The tournament went beyond being merely a sporting event, as it was organized to honor the memory of the ‘Champion Angels’ who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake and to carry their spirit of solidarity, hope, and resilience onto the field. This meaningful gathering once again demonstrated the unifying power of sport by bringing together volleyball players from different teams around a shared sense of purpose.
The tournament final matches were attended by EMU Board of Trustees (VYK) Members Özdinç Akdel and Recai Ergün, EMU General Secretary Derviş Ekşici, Student Development, Events and Sports Affairs Director Cemal Kılıç, Sports Affairs Coordinator Aydın Kayol from Sport Services Office, Galatasaray Sports Club Executive Board Member Ünal Memiç and athletes who have contributed to volleyball in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
In the tournament, where a total of 10 teams competed in the masters category, every athlete who took to the court played not only for competition but also to honor and preserve a shared memory. Beyond the matches themselves, the spirit of solidarity, sportsmanship, and collective remembrance among the teams stood out throughout the tournament.
At the end of the tournament, Koop Bank secured first place, Kimse Görmeden team finished second, Team Alizavra came in third, and EMU Sports Affairs team placed fourth.
Within the scope of individual and team awards, Mehmet Bektaş, Milad Khalilzadeh, Mohammad Akbari, Hessam and Nadzeya Burdzeika received Best Referee awards. On the other hand, Most Supportive Press Award was given to Ahmet Ogan.
Participation awards were presented to the teams Blok Yok Umut Var, Girne Fire Department, Koop Bank, MVO Masters 1 and 2, Team Alizavra, Voleybol Tutkunları, EMU Volleyball, EMU Sports Affairs, and Kimse Görmeden.
In addition, Girne Fire Department was named the Most Enthusiastic Team, Voleybal Tutkunları received the Fair Play Award, and Blok Yok Umut Var was recognized for Best Team Spirit. Individual awards were also presented as follows: Senem Öcal was named Best Spectator, Süleyman Rebge Best Captain, Devrim Bukel Most Improved Player, Mehmet Ali Osanmaz Best Amateur Player, Nafi Çetintaş Most Mature Player, Sezgin Şeren Youngest Player, Recep Kılıç Most Colorful Player, and Kunter Nesimi was awarded the MVP of the division.
Maraş Volleyball School was recognized as the institution contributing the most to the tournament. Individual awards were presented as follows: Selen Denizer was named Best Defensive Player, Aydın Kayol Most Sportsmanlike Player, Cemal Astan Best Setter, Ali Duvarcı Best Spiker (Men), Buğra Eryıldız Tournament MVP (Women), and İsmail Kovancı Tournament MVP (Men).
The tournament concluded following the presentation of the awards.
