EMU Signs an Education and Consultancy Protocol with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ministry of Labour and Social Security has recently signed a protocol covering education and consultancy collaborations in various fields, particularly occupational health and safety (OHS). The protocol was signed by Minister of Labour and Social Security Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu and EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç. EMU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu and Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, and EMU General Secretary Derviş Ekşici were also present during the signing session.

 

The protocol includes EMU’s organization of training programs for Ministry staff and outlines that the Ministry’s occupational health and safety–related consultancy needs will be addressed by the EMU Occupational Health and Safety Center, while its other training and consultancy requirements will be fulfilled by the EMU Continuous Education Center.

“Key Element of the Protocol: Health and Safety at Work”

In his remarks, Minister Hasipoğlu stated that the parties had signed a collaboration protocol covering training and consultancy, noting that the core of the agreement centers on education in occupational health and safety. Hasipoğlu underlined the Ministry’s strong commitment to protecting workers’ health and safety, adding that it is crucial for them that all activities and services provided are based on scientific foundations. Furthermore, Hasipoğlu expressed his satisfaction in establishing this collaboration with Eastern Mediterranean University, one of the country’s long-standing and distinguished academic institutions. He added that these training programs are essential not only for enhancing workers’ well-being, safety, and productivity, but also for maintaining the credibility of employers and related organizations. Concluding his speech, he wished the protocol to be beneficial for both parties.

Also delivering a speech during the signing session, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç underscored that the university is institution that creates knowledge and gains value by sharing it with the community. Prof. Dr. Kılıç expressed his gratitude to Minister Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu for the confidence placed in EMU to deliver services in the critically important area of occupational health and safety, adding that he believes this partnership will yield meaningful contributions to the country. Prof. Dr. Kılıç also conveyed his confidence in achieving the jointly defined objectives with the Ministry and wished for the protocol to be beneficial for both parties.
