Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) was successfully represented at INHSC2025, the 4th International and 7th National Health Services Congress organized at Süleyman Demirel University. Invited as a keynote speaker, EMU Faculty of Dentistry Academic Prof. Dr. Şükrü Tüzmen delivered presentations both in Turkish and English.
Prof. Dr. Şükrü Tüzmen from EMU Faculty of Dentistry, came together with academicians and students from the Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences at Süleyman Demirel University, along with Dr. Arman Zargaran, Director of Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education, and his delegation. The meeting represented an important step toward launching multidisciplinary collaborations with the potential to serve as model initiatives in the future.
During the congress, Prof. Dr. Tüzmen provided an in-depth overview of multidisciplinary genetic and genomic research carried out through advanced molecular techniques, the analysis of data and measurements in scientific practice, and the investigation and interpretation of genetic disorders. The event also featured extensive discussions on medical ethics, tele-surgical applications, technological advancements, and recent developments in science.
Prof. Dr. Tüzmen and other invited speakers had the chance to taste pastries and cookies they prepared by applying four different gluten-free recipes during the “Gluten-free Nutrition” workshop organized by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Health Sciences.
Prof. Dr. Tüzmen explained that, since 2012, they have been organizing internationally oriented social and scientific initiatives to instill EMU’s universal values, scientific discipline, and a comprehensive approach to systematic thinking in students. He noted that these activities have helped students build strong professional networks and have played a direct role in many gaining admission to postgraduate and doctoral programs abroad. Prof. Dr. Tüzmen further highlighted that, within the Basic Sciences division of the EMU Faculty of Dentistry, numerous articles and book chapters have been published in collaboration with both students and faculty members.
EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç described these scientific engagements, which strengthen the university’s international standing, as a source of pride and congratulated Prof. Dr. Şükrü Tüzmen. He also emphasized EMU’s strong commitment to academic output, noting that the commitment shown by faculty members in such activities plays a vital role in advancing the university’s global mission.
