Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) students successfully represented the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the Turkic Red Network Volunteering Camp organized by the Turkish Red Crescent in Heybeliada on 30 July – 4 August 2025. Held under the Organization of Turkic States, the camp allowed youth from various countries to exchange knowledge and experiences in the fields of humanitarian aid, disaster management, and volunteering.
EMU students; Melek Doğan and Ulaş Kılıvan actively participated in the camp. On the other hand, the Former Chair of EMU Red Crescent Club and current Chair of Cyprus Young Red Crescent Gülpenbe Şakrak took an important role in the said event. Şakrak seeks to strengthen her initiatives in empowering youth to take a more active part in volunteer and humanitarian projects by building on the new experiences gained during the camp.
The event fostered not only the personal growth of the young participants but also their awareness of social responsibility. By taking part in such international programs, EMU students help raise the profile of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in humanitarian efforts and create opportunities to strengthen global partnerships.
Eastern Mediterranean University continues to fully support its students in engaging with social responsibility initiatives and representing the university on international platforms.
