Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering Academic Staff Member Prof. Dr. Hasan Kömürcügil achieved a remarkable success in international field with his scientific work. Prof. Dr. Kömürcügil has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief / EiC in the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics, one of the most prestigious publications in the field.
Attending the 51st Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IECON), held on 14-17 October 2025 in Madrid, Prof. Dr. Kömürcigil delivered his presentation titled “A New Three-Level Reduced Switch-Count Three-Phase F-type Rectifier and Its Control without Current Sensing”.
Highest Vote among Five Candidates
At the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Administrative Committee (AdCom) meeting organized during the conference, the society’s technical activities and publications were evaluated, and the selection of editors-in-chief for its journals was addressed. Prof. Dr. Kömürcügil secured the highest number of votes among five candidates and was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics, with the appointment taking effect in January 2026.
With an impact factor of 4, the journal features internationally recognized articles in the fields of Power, Energy, Industrial Applications, and Robotics. Alongside his new position, Prof. Dr. Kömürcügil has been effectively serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics since 2018.
