Postgraduate Research Poster Presentations Exhibited at EMU Foreign Languages Education Department

Postgraduate research poster presentations prepared within the scope of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Education, Foreign Language Education Department, English Language Teaching Master’s and Doctoral Programs, were exhibited at the Faculty of Education on Tuesday, 24 December 2024 at 12:00 p.m. during an opening ceremony organized. The poster presentations exhibited consists of research conducted by postgraduate students as part of Transformative TESOL Education: Diversity (ELTE 519) and Innovation, Social-Emotional Learning and Studies in Second Language Acquisition (ELTE 603) course coordinated by Prof. Dr. Naciye Kunt.

Prof. Dr. Hatice Hasipoğlu, EMU Foreign Language Education Department Head Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatoş Erozan, faculty members and students.

The poster presentations highlighted modern themes like transformation, diversity, innovation, and social-emotional learning in language teaching, while showcasing extensive and innovative research on second language acquisition.

English Language Education Master’s Program Research/Poster Titles:

The posters prepared by master’s program students and exhibited in the event were; “Navigating Complexities in Multicultural Classrooms Considering the Current Situation in the World” by Aruzan Nariman; “Inclusiveness in ELT: Teachers’ Perception” by Gülgün Özertay and Muhammed İbrahim Emrem; “Teachers' Self-Efficacy and Attitude towards Inclusive Education” by Ejber Aydın, Mehdi Sadeghi Mohammadi, Lina Öztoprak and Beyza Nur Çelik; “Learners' Perceptions of Translanguaging in English Language Learning” by Dilek Üyücü; “Socio-Emotional Learning in English Language Learning” by Doğukan Hacımuratlar and Sıla Taş and lastly; “Enhancing FLEP School Learners' Participation through Translanguaging: Teachers' Perspectives, Practices, and Implications” by Shahjahan Ara.

The posters prepared by PhD students and exhibited in the event were; “A Qualitative Study on Challenges and Emotions of Undergraduate Students in EMI Classes” by Şerife Engür; “Enhancing Explicit Language Learning in the Elderly: The Role of Brain Plasticity in Cognitive Improvements” by Elena Gasmi; “Personality Differences and Language Learning: A Comparison in the FLEPS Context” by Sena Küçükkancabaş; “Functions of Code-Switching in an EFL Context: Teachers’ Perspectives” by Parisa Mehdizadeh; “Exploring the Role of Classroom Anxiety in Second Language Acquisition: Impacts on Turkish Intermediate Level EFL Learners” by Ekrem Seral; “Sex Differences in Motivation for Language Learning: Exploring Language Learning Strategies in Final International University (FIU)” by Napee Narottam Lodhia; and, “Examining Code-Switching as a Scaffolding Technique in Zanzibar EFL Classrooms: Cognitive Benefits and Educational Implications” by Yussuf Mohammed Khatip.
