The International Council of Graphic Design Associations (icograda), of which Eastern Mediterranean University Communication Faculty, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design has been a member since 2011, changed its name to the International Design Council (ico-D).
Eastern Mediterranean University Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu stated that Canada-based icograda, has undergone a name change to act as a global voice of all design-related disciplines and to better reflect the council’s mission and activities. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çavuşoğlu also put forth that another reason for the name change is to reflect various global strategies supporting design-focused and creative type of education in an international environment.
Cyprus is represented by Eastern Mediterranean University Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department in the council which boasts memberships of an array of elite universities and institutions throughout Europe, Asia and America.
