Great Interest Towards The “EMU 40th Anniversary Symphonic Concert”

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) established in 1979 is one of the important achievements of Turkish Cypriots. This year EMU is celebrating the honour of reaching its 40th year. Within the scope of the celebrations, the “EMU 40th Anniversary Symphonic Concert” will be taking place at the Ancient Theatre of Salamis on Friday, the 13th of September 2019. The event set to commence at 21:00 will feature the performance of the TRNC Presidential Symphony Orchestra and the Turkish band Mor ve Ötesi. The “EMU 40th Anniversary Symphonic Concert” is open to general and public and free of charge.

With a project they started last year, popular Turkish band Mor ve Ötesi began to perform symphonic concerts with different symphonic orchestras. The group will be performing their greatest hits with the TRNC Presidential Symphony Orchestra and their Chef Orçun Orçunsel in the magnificent and mystic ambiance of the Ancient Theatre of Salamis.

Invitations Must Be Presented During Entrance 

According to a statement from the EMU Rector’s Office, invitations must be presented to officials during entrance. Invitations to the concert can be obtained from the EMU Public Relations and Press Office Directorate until the 10th of September 2019. Amongst The World’s Best Young Universities

EMU has a constantly rising number of graduates which has drawn near 60 thousand after the 2018-2019 Spring Semester Academic Year. EMU featured on the 151-200 band of the 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) World’s Best Young Universities Rankings (also known as ‘Under 50 Rankings’).

Another Achievement

EMU also featured on the China based ShanghaiRanking 2019 Global Rankings of Academic Subjects list. On the said list, EMU featured on the 76-100 band in the field of Tourism and Hospitality Management. EMU was the only university on the island to feature on this list. It was also ranked higher than any Turkish university. In the field of economics EMU was the only university from the TRNC to feature on the list. Once again it ranked higher than any university from Turkey and Cyprus. Whilst only three Turkish universities featured in the top 500 of the ranking EMU featured on the 301-400 band.
