As part of ‘Children with Leukaemia Week’, students of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertising carried out a social responsibility project. Conducted within the framework of ‘Marketing Communication for Social Responsibility’ course and, coordination of Assist. Prof. Dr. Umut Ayman, the said projects were carried out in collaboration with EMU Community Involvement Center (CIC). The events aimed to increase awareness towards children who fight against leukaemia, and to reinforce the culture of social solidarity.
Carried out Projects
“Field of Solidarity and Hope: Philanthropy Football Tournament” was one of the projects carried out, organized by students Yan Gavrilin, Polina Ryabova, Danislava Kryaskova, Natalya Ignatenko and Nikita Lukianchenko. Held on EMU campus, said tournament saw participation from over 150 individuals. The revenue of the event was donated to Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukaemia and Fight against Cancer Association (KSV).
Another project carried out was “Awareness on Bone Marrow Donation: Life-Saving Collaboration” project run by Ece Çakır, Sıla Bozoğlu and Gökçe Çabuk. The importance of bone marrow donation was stressed during an event held at Atatürk Square, where 30 new volunteering donors were recorded in the national bone marrow bank. The event was held with the contributions of Genesis Agency operating under the EMU Faculty of Communication.
A third event, with the title of “Leukaemia Awareness”, was organized at EMU Faculty of Communication within the scope of “Stronger Together” event. The said project was carried out by Lara Gülümser, Gözel Bekturdyyeva Bilen, Batuhan Akkoyun and Halime Çağla Karabey. During the event, KSV’s special products were sold, with all proceeds donated to support the treatment of children with leukaemia. Throughout the day, students hosted awareness activities, helping to promote social awareness and community engagement.
Dean’s Office at EMU Faculty of Communication noted that the carried out events helped strengthen students’ sense of social responsibility and emphasized the importance of their participation in projects that benefit society. It was highlighted that such initiatives within the faculty contribute to students’ development as well-rounded individuals, equipped both professionally and personally
