Aiming to contribute education and training, research and development, and international cooperation, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBU) has signed a collaboration protocol covering scientific engagement, cultural exchange and joint studies. The said protocol was signed on Monday, 16 February 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at EMU Rector’s Office building where EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and SUBU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık put their signatures on behalf their institutions.
Present during the signing session were EMU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu and Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, EMU General Secretary Derviş Ekşici, EMU Promotion and Marketing Director Murat Aktuğralı, Rectorate Office Private Secretariat Director Kazım Hakverdi and SUBU Language Education and Training Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Serhat Küçük.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Sarıbıyık presented extensive information about Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, offering insight on student profile, programs, accreditations and ongoing work. Expressing their pleasure for the collaboration to be initiated between two institutions, Prof. Dr. Sarıbıyık hoped that the said protocol would be beneficial for both parties.
Expressing his satisfaction at hosting Sakarya University of Applied Sciences at EMU, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç emphasizing that the cooperation protocol lays the foundation for collaboration between the two institutions. Prof. Dr. Kılıç noted that the collaboration between the two institutions is expected to generate strength and synergy, and stated that they are pleased to collaborate with Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, a distinguished university of the Republic of Türkiye. Sharing detailed information about EMU, he underlined that the university prioritizes partnerships within the scope of its “EMU Global” vision. Prof. Dr. Kılıç expressed his confidence that the protocol will continue to evolve and extended his best wishes for the success of the signed agreement.
Following the signing session, Prof. Dr. Kılıç presented Prof. Dr. Sarıbıyık and Prof. Dr. Küçük souvenirs unique to EMU and Cyprus. On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Sarıbıyık also present a souvenir to Prof. Dr. Kılıç.
