Digital Transformation Move from EMU and Koopbank

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Cyprus Turkish Cooperative Central Bank (Koopbank) signed an agreement concerning the mobile application titled EMU PASS which would offer the students and personnel members the opportunity to carry out their financial and other operations in a digital environment. The agreement was signed by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, the Chairperson of Koopbank Board of Directors Haluk Yerli and Koopbank General Manager Kemal Ataman. The signing ceremony was attended by EMU Board of Trustees (VYK) President Dr. Erdal Özcenk, EMU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu and Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu, EMU Acting General Secretary Derviş Ekşici, EMU Information Technologies Director Aytaç Çerkez, EMU Transportation Services Unit Section Chief Aykut Türkmaya and authorities from Koopbank.

Delivering the opening speech, the Chairperson of Koopbank Board of Directors Haluk Yerli emphasized the significance of introducing such innovations in an era of advancing technology and institutional structures. Yerli remarked, “Institutions with deep-rooted histories, like EMU, propel us toward these advancements. This development will provide our students with automation convenience and greatly simplify payment processes”.

“We will continue our Efforts in line with the Need for Innovation and Developments”

Making remarks, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç pointed out the digital transformation process, saying “Our University is currently in the midst of a digital transformation. In this regard, automating all processes to speed things up is a crucial step. This innovation, which is now available both on and off-campus, will allow us to perform transactions more swiftly. We are grateful to Koopbank for their support. As EMU, we are proud to be at the forefront of such an innovation. I would like to thank all EMU staff who played a role in this process. We will continue our efforts focused in line with the need for innovation and growth.”

“Great Advantages to be brought to Students and Personnel”

EMU VYK President Dr. Erdal Özcenk conveyed his thanks to those who have contributed to the process and stressed that the rapid advancement of technology makes it essential for institutions to keep up with these changes. Dr. Özcenk pointed out that digital transformation will provide significant benefits to the education sector. In this regard, Dr. Özcenk noted that the partnership between Koopbank and EMU will offer valuable advantages to both students and staff.

Koopbank General Manager Kemal Ataman also made remarks during the signing ceremony, expressing that their cooperation with EMU goes back 35 years. Stating that the current state is a result of technological development and transformation. Ataman expressed pride in collaborating with EMU and hoped the agreement would be fruitful for both institutions.

Lastly, EMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu made a speech, stating that they have turned a dream into a reality through the collaboration initiated with Koopbank. Expressing her gratitude to Koopbank team and EMU Information Technologies Directorate for their great efforts, Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu noted that such projects are to provide huge contributions towards digitalization of the university.
