Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering graduate and CIO of the Arkas Holding, Mert Oruz, catches attention with his strong career. İnvited to the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester Graduation Ceremony to deliver an inspirational speech for the graduates, Oruz paid a courtesy visit to EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç prior to the ceremony.
In his speech, Oruz noted EMU’s significant contribution on his career journey. Stating he has received a warm and genuine welcome from the Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, Oruz once again underscored his pride with his university. Defining his university years as “a perfect educational process”, Oruz advised new graduates—who are at a turning point in their lives—to be patient and determined in the face of challenges, and to move forward as individuals who are always open to learning.

Who is Mert Oruz?
Mert Oruz, born in 1974 in İzmir, completed his high school education at İzmir Atatürk High School. In 1997, he earned his degree in Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at Eastern Mediterranean University. That same year, he embarked on his professional journey at Sepiciler Holding as a computer engineer, later advancing to the roles of Deputy IT Manager and IT Manager. Between 2001 and 2004, he held the positions of IT Director and Process Leader at Teba Inc. In 2004, he joined Arkas/BİMAR Inc., taking on the role of Customer Relations and Procurement Manager. Currently serving as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the same company, Oruz is recognized for his extensive expertise in IT and technology management.
