ICCI 2025 25 - 28 OCTOBER Famagusta, North Cyprus

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) will host the 13th International Congress on Curriculum and Instruction (ICCI-EPOK) in collaboration with the Turkish Association of Curriculum and Instruction (EPÖDER). The congress will take place on 25-28 October 2025 at EMU Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center, with the main sponsorship of the Municipality of Famagusta and, Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Trade Union (KTÖS). The event is expected to see participation from over 300 academics and scholars, as well as over 100 audience, from especially Türkiye and, Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and various other countries.

The keynote speakers of the congress consist of David Crookall, the Honorary Member of the International Simulation and Gaming Association (ISAGA); Khalid Arar, a Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy in the College of Education at Texas State University; and Prof. Dr. Soner Yıldırım from the Faculty Of Education, Department Of Computer Education And Instructional Technology at the Middle East Technical University (METU).

Along with the panels to be held as part of the congress, workshops and scientific will also take place. During the panel titled “Language Policies and Language Teaching Curricula in Turkish Republics”, Prof. Dr. Osman MERT from the Turkish Language Association (TDK), Director of the Atatürk Teacher Academy Prof. Dr. Güner Konedralı, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdan KERVAN, Vice Rector of the Prizren “Ukshin Hoti” University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdan Kervan, and Prof. Dr. Sevinç Aliyeva, from the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences will deliver speeches.

On the other hand, the “Basic Education Curricula in the context of Educating 21st Century Individuals in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” panel will feature Prof. Dr. Ahmet Pehlivan, Dean of EMU Faculty of Education; Prof. Dr. Canan Z. Perkan, Head of EMU Department of Education Sciences; Prof. Dr. Sıtkıye Kuter, faculty member of EMU Faculty of Education; Prof. Dr. Müfit Kömleksiz from Dr. Fazıl Küçük Education Faculty at European University of Lefke (EUL); and, Prof. Dr. Osman Cankoy from Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling Department at METU North Cyprus Campus.

Within the scope of the congress program, Prof. Dr. Ali Yıldırım from University of Gothenburg will deliver a presentation titled “Theory and Research in Curriculum and Instruction: An Analysis within the Framework of Educational Sciences Traditions”. Moreover, Akın Kağan Akçalı, the Founder of Foramind/Mind Maps Association, will carry out a workshop event titled “Use of Mind Maps in Transforming Curricula”.

The event will serve as a platform to discuss the latest developments in curriculum and instruction and to enhance international academic cooperation. Within the scope of the congress, Festschrift volumes—traditionally prepared by the Association of Curriculum and Instruction to honour academics who have contributed significantly to the field—will be presented. Additionally, two interactive workshops for teachers will be organized outside the main congress program, led by ISAGA Honorary Member David Crookall and Akın Kağan Akçalı, Founder of the Mind Maps Association.

A ball with “29 October Republic Day” theme will be held on Tuesday, 28 October 2025 at EMU Beach Club. This special event bringing participants together will unite the joy of Republic with a scientific atmosphere.
