Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Atatürk Research and Application Center (ATAUM) and EMU Atatürk Ideology Club (ADK) will co-organize a panel titled “Geçmişten Günümüze Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nin Tarihsel Gelişimi / Historic Development of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus: From Past to Present” which seeks to analyze the political, social and diplomatic development of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from different viewpoints. Prominent names in the field will gather together with participants to provide an extensive perspective on the matter.
Open to all members of the public, the said panel event will take place on Monday, 15 December 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, appealling to everyone interested in the historical development of the TRNC, from students and academics to all stakeholders following societal developments.
The panel will feature Peker Turgud, the TRNC’s first Ambassador to Ankara; Prof. Dr. İsmail Şahin, Head of the Political History Department and Chair of International Relations at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University; and Dr. Mete Özsezer, EMU ATAUM academic staff. The session will be moderated by Dr. Devran Kaya, also an academic staff at EMU ATAUM.
