Software and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Development Club operating under the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Student Development, Activities and Sports Affairs Directorate is organizing a construction sector themed Hackathon Competition in collaborations with Cyprus Constructions and Califorian Restaurant. Aiming on developing innovative software solutions, the competition will take place on 5-7 December 2025 at Pearl Island Esentepe.
Aligned with EMU’s software, AI and technology focused transformation vision included in the university’s new manifesto, the said Hackathon Competition is expected to enhance the technology-oriented innovation culture of the university.
Hackathons are widely recognized as technology-driven marathons in which programmers, designers, and tech innovators work intensively within a limited timeframe to quickly convert creative ideas into functional prototypes.
Organized by EMU Software and AI Development Club, the competition will be open to all university students from both Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The event specifically focuses on generating AI-powered solutions that support digitalization in the construction sector.
Last Date for Applications: 2 December 2025
The competition will host 10 teams of three participants each. Applications — accepted via https://hackathon.emu.edu.tr — are open until 2 December 2025. After the application period, a preliminary evaluation will determine which teams qualify, and the selected participants will be announced on the website on 3–4 December 2025. The submitted projects will be reviewed by an esteemed panel of judges, consisting of prominent professionals from various sectors of the industry.
3-day Intensive Marathon in Camp Format
The three-day Hackathon will take place in a camp-style setting, with all accommodation and catering provided by the event sponsors, Cyprus Constructions and Califorian Restaurant. During the event, students will have the chance to engage with industry professionals while working on their projects. The top-ranking teams will share a total prize pool of 150,000 TL.
Reflecting EMU’s technology-driven vision, the Hackathon serves as a key platform for students to foster innovative ideas, tackle real-world industry challenges, and advance their expertise in AI and software development.
