The “13th International Career Days” organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Alumni Communication and Career Research Directorate (MIKA) continues at full steam. Known as the “Man who wrote the Mathematics of English”, Taner Çağlı, a graduate of the EMU Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Translation and Interpretation, met with EMU students on Tuesday, 8 April 2025 at 02:30 p.m. at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall. During the talk event, Çağlı addressed topics like linguistics, translational technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) assisted language analysis.
The event was attended by EMU Acting Rector and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, EMU Vice Rector for Promotion and Institutional Communication Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, academic and administrative personnel and, may students.

Commencing his speech by touching on his time at the EMU, Taner Çağlı shared that this time gave him a global perspective. He said the university’s diverse, multicultural environment supported both his academic and personal growth, adding; “EMU always made me feel like I was part of an international community. That diversity played a big role in my personal development.” Referring to modern technological advances, Çağlı mentioned that from early on, he had the ambition to develop software capable of translating anything. Reflecting on the education he received at EMU, he noted; “I realized writing long texts isn’t easy. As I looked for ways to make my work more engaging and effective, I eventually created a language learning system that simplifies the process for others.” Çağlı emphasized how meaningful EMU is to him, proudly mentioning it in every public appearance. He said; “EMU is a top-tier university—truly special for Northern Cyprus. Its academic quality, faculty, and student body give it a distinguished place”.
During the talk event, Çağlı shared insights on his career journey, his experiences in professional world and the positive influence of being an EMU graduate throughout his career. Furthermore, he provided the students with important tips on the ways to easily learn English language. The event took place in an engaging and interactive atmosphere, with students actively participating by asking questions. At the end of the talk, Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe presented Taner Çağlı with a plaque in recognition of his valuable contributions.
