ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal Visits EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç

The new Rector of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and former Chairperson of TUBITAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, ITU-North Cyprus Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Sarı, ITU-North Cyprus Rector’s Advisor Dr. Aslı Kanan and ITU-North Cyprus Secretary-General Dursun Koç paid a visit to Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç. Present during the said visit were; EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, EMU Vice Rector for Promotion and Institutional Communication Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu and EMU Vice Rector for Financial Affairs Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu.

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç welcomed Prof. Dr. Mandal and the visiting delegation and, conveyed his thanks for their visit. During the visit, information regarding the two universities were exchanged and the results of the recently announced YKS exam were discussed. Furthermore, the parties also exchanged information about the accreditations each university holds. Addressing EMU’s place in the world universities rankings, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç stated that the university is listed among the 601-800 band by the Times Higher Education and, in the 611-620 band by the QS World Universities Rankings. Prof. Dr. Kılıç noted that EMU is the first and only university of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to be listed on the QS World Universities Rankings. During the meeting focused on the higher education sector in the TRNC, discussions included the potential for academic collaboration between the two institutions and the pursuit of joint research projects. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç expressed their readiness to work with ITU across various fields, highlighting that they view ITU-North Cyprus as a sister university and are eager to offer their support in any capacity.

The visit ended with both University Rectors presenting souvenirs to each other and a photo shoot.
