Hilton Hotel Internship Opportunity for Tourism Faculty Students

Tourism Faculty students from the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) met Hilton Worldwide Turkey Director of Human Resources Hakan Özcan.  The event was organized by the EMU Faculty of Tourism and the Tourism Club. It took place in room TH108, on the 12th October 2016 at 11:30.

During the speech he gave at the event, Dean of the EMU Tourism Faculty, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç noted that the conference was organized in order to allow students the opportunity to find out what requirements need to be fulfilled, in order to be employed at a Hilton Hotel. By finding out the expectations of such establishments, students who are still at the beginning of their career journeys have the opportunity to be guided on possible career paths. Prof. Dr. Kılıç also noted that the conference aims to provide students with advice about how to avoid potential obstacles in their path.

The conference that was carried out in both English and Turkish started with Hakan Özcan giving a description of his career, ndetailing how he got to his current position. Özcan also provided information about the history and founding of the Hilton Hotels before noting that they would be happy to be in collaboration with EMU and that they are ready to provide internship opportunities for EMU students. Özcan concluded by noting that work will continue to bring together top level hotel employees and EMU Tourism Faculty students.

The event that aimed to develop cooperation between the EMU Tourism Faculty and Hilton Hotels as well as creating new opportunities for academic internships was also attended by academic staff and students from the Tourism and Hospitality Management Department, the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department and the Tourism Faculty.
