Foreign Language Eduation Department Held Final Project Presentations

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Education, Department of Foreign Language Education, English Language Teaching Undergraduate Program students delivered their end-of-semester project presentations. As part of the ‘English Literature’ (ELTE 216) and ‘The Structure of English’ (ELTE 122) courses coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeşim Betül Oktay, group research projects were exhibited as poster presentations at the foyer area of the Faculty of Education.

Undergraduate students in the ELTE 216 course shared their poster presentations analysing poems by notable authors from English, Scottish, and American literature, focusing on themes, language, and literary features. Meanwhile, students in the ELTE 122 course presented their projects on English sentence structures, based on examples from written and spoken media.

As part of the ELTE 216 course, students conducted in-depth analyses of poems from various historical periods. İlke Cemaloğlu, Ervanur Yanık, Zeynep Destici, and Ceren Çanakçı concentrated on John Keats’s “When I Have Fears That I May Cease to Be,” while Kerem Kaçar, Kardelen Şerife Yılmaz, Doğukan Şahin, and Zeynep Aydıngör explored William Ernest Henley’s “Invictus.” The group of Osman Kırmızı, Tolga Sağır, Selçuk Altuğ Baybora, and Yalçın Bayraktar examined John Edward Masefield’s “Sea Fever,” and Çağdaş Demiralp alongside Dovlet Egemberdyev delved into Edgar Allan Poe’s “Annabel Lee.” Duyal Şerif Çakmak, Emel Giritli, Filiz Nalbant, and Cemre Demiralp focused their work on William Blake’s “The Tyger,” while Hafize Nur Babuççu, Arda Demirdöven, Furkan Mert Dilek, and Eylül Ayça Şen presented on Sylvia Plath’s “Mirror.” Yaren Dikmen, Taylan Özgür Sefer, Merve Karalar, and Naim Ki directed their attention to Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise,” and Gizem Türcan, Nilsu Muratağa, and Emirhan Özkan analyzed Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Rain.”

The presentations by ELTE 216 (Group 3) students showcased deeply insightful literary analyses. Nisa Akdağcık, Elif Güzek Akka, Zehra Bayraktar, and Zeynep Şimal Ertek examined Edgar Allan Poe’s “A Dream Within a Dream,” while Mehmet Öztürk, Aşkın Çağlar Demir, Hüseyin Şeref, Ömer Anıl Börklüce, and Emirhan Çetinkaya delivered a project on Dylan Thomas’s “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.” Işık Keçeci, Ali Can Gökalp, Ahmet Nuri Güntekin, and Hasan Enver Kutlu evaluated Maya Angelou’s “On the Pulse of Morning,” and Tuğba Tuğcu, Neriman Şingirli, Serel Sıla Yıldırıcı, and Ceren Akıncı explored Sylvia Plath’s “Lady Lazarus.” İremnur Doğa, Merve Mertoğlu, Yaren Kartal, and Elif Berfin Geçimli analyzed Christina Rossetti’s “Remember,” while Emine Azra Kara, Iana Maliakina, Noor Awad, Kaan Mustafa Keleş, and Emirhan Rugala interpreted Sylvia Plath’s “Ariel.” Finally, Melisa Aytemiz, Leyla Aktuğ, Derin Can, and İnci Nural presented a literary study of Edgar Allan Poe’s “Alone.”

The event, which concluded with poster presentations, ended with a group photo featuring the course coordinator, Assist. Prof. Dr. Yeşim Betül Oktay, and the students.
