EMU – PDRAM Delivers a Series of Workshops in SOS Children’s Village

Organised by Eastern Mediterranean University Psychological Counseling, Guidance and Research Center (EMU – PDRAM), a series of workshops entitled “Children’s Rights at Home, School and within the Community: Protect, Be Aware, Know and Apply” were delivered at SOS Children’s Village.

Organised in line with Eastern Mediterranean University’s target in enabling the society to benefit from the information accumulation within the university and upon the demand of the SOS Children’s Village National Directorate, the first series of 10-hour workshops were targeted towards 16 staff members who are employed at various units at the SOS Children’s Village. The second workshop which took place between 23 and 24 January 2014 was delivered to another group of 23 staff members in a revised form between 23 and 24 January 2014.

During both workshops, the participants received information on the concept of childhood, and the effects of different environments during the childhood period. On the second day of the workshops,  the participants took part in “Children’s Rights and the SOS Foundation” focused activities both on individual basis and as a group. The workshops which aimed to provide information on protecting, being aware of, knowing and applying children’s rights in an integrated environment were delivered by EMU– PDRAM chair Prof. Dr. Biran Mertan, EMU – PDRAM psychiatrists and EMU – PDRAM research assistants. Participants received certificates at the end of the workshops.
