EMU-CWS Participated at the Intercolleigate Collaboration for Support and Communication Workshop Against Sexual Harassment and Attack
Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Center for Women’s Studies (EMU-CWS) participated at the XIV. Intercollegiate Collaboration for Support and Communication Workshop against Sexual Harassment and Attack. During the workshop hosted by Erciyes University Women’s Studies and Application Center (ERÜ-KAÇAUM), EMU-CWS President Assoc. Dr. Süheyla Üçışık Erbilen, Executive Board Member Prof. Dr. Fatma Güven Lisaniler and Research Assistant Expert Bilcan Bladanlı represented EMU.
The topic of the first session was the ‘Institutionalisation of Social Gender Equality at Universities’. During the following session, opinions were presented on the obstacles and improvement efforts of universities with their Sexual Harassment and Attack (SHA) Ethical Boards and Units still at the establishment phase. Relevant units of 40 universities, equality units of Kayseri and Nevşehir governorships and representatives from Provincial Women’s Rights Coordination Boards were present at the workshop. Assoc. Dr. Erbilen also stated that EMU has achieved considerable progress regarding their efforts for achieving social gender quality.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erbilen added that as per the ‘Higher Education Social Gender Equality Attitude Certificate’, the works on Sexual Harassment and Attack Policies Certificate, related alterations on the Students and Academic Disciplinary Regulations and the Counteracting Unit had been completed.
