EMU Commemorates 76th Anniversary of Atatürk’s Death

76th anniversary of Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s death will be commemorated at EMU on 10 November 2014 through various activities. The first ceremony commemorating Atatürk will take place at EMU Atatürk Monument at  8:45 a.m. on 10 November 2014. Following the  national songs and Atatürk’s 10th Year Speech, a wreath will be laid on Atatürk’s monument on behalf of the Rector’s Office. At 09:05, a moment of silence followed by the National Anthem will take place. The ceremony will finish after addresses and Atatürk Ideology Club member’s poems.

On the same day at 10:30 a.m., a panel will take place at EMU Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tahiroğlu Hall. During the panel, EMU Atatürk Application and Research Center chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Cicioğlu will deliver a speech entitled “From Captivity to Freedom” and EMU Atatürk Application and Research Center member and academic staff member Prof. Dr. Turgut Turhan will be talking about “The Thought of Death in Atatürk”. Following the aforesaid speakers, Dr. Turgay Bülent Göktürk will be delivering a speech entitled “Atatürk and Democracy”  and EMU Atatürk Ideology Club chair Yiğit Vehbi Baylan will be speaking about “Atatürk and Youth”.
