As the Social and Cultural Activities Directorate, we are planning to hold this year’s Spring Festival with the theme of “Awake and Aware” between 21 and 24 May 2014. “Awake and Aware” slogan aims to increase the awareness and sensitivity level of both students within the university and each individual living in the TRNC towards community problems. With the “Awake and Aware” slogan, we aim to take individuals’ attention towards various social problems that we are not aware of or sensitive towards. In this respect, numerous social problems in different areas will be brought up. For example, problems of autistic children or physically or mentally disabled citizes, the increase of environmental awareness, violence against women, child abuse, cancer patients, sexually transmitted infections, and so forth. Not limiting the number of problems to 3 or 5 will reflect the university’s sensitivity and awareness towards many social problems. We believe that the main actors of this event should be students. Hence, you are kindly invited to submit the activities your club is planning to carry out within the specified concept latest by 18 April 2014. Any requests for the spring festival submitted after this date will not be taken into consideration.
