Special Olympics Turkey Director Didem Ünsür, Communications and Resource Coordinator Atıl Berk and Project Coordinator Kerem İlgün paid a visit to Eastern Mediterranean University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam. During the visit at which Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan a Rector’s Coordinator Assist. Prof. Doç. Dr. Arif Akkeleş were also present, the issue of Eastern Mediterranean University hosting Special Olympics Turkey Project Unify organisation taking place between 18 and 20 May 2016 was discussed. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Osam stated that EMU would be more than pleased to host the said event.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Those activities give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship.
Various events are being organised within the framework of Special Olympics Turkey Project Unify. As part of the said project, children will be hosted by Eastern Mediterranean University and participate in exciting and entertaining sports activities.
