Public Relations and Advertising Department Organizes First Metaverse Training in EMU

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Communication Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department and Genesis Agency organized “Metaverse 101” seminar at Communication Faculty Purple Hall.

During the seminar organized with the contributions of Public Relations and Advertising Department Head Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya, EMU Public Relations and Advertising Department academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Raziye Nevzat made a presentation on Metaverse and Non-Fungible Token (NFT). Providing information on the future use of metaverse in the fields of marketing and advertising, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nevzat stated that the issues encountered in e-commerce will minimize and personally created avatars will provide great convenience in the field of communication. Emphasizing that metaverse universe is to contribute the attention economy in great sense, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nevzat indicated that there are claims regarding the metaverse helping to reduce the waste thrown into the environment to a large extent, and that stock management, logistics and carbon footprint decreasing. Assist. Prof. Dr. Nevzat also added that celebrities animated with augmented reality can provide training.

Later on the seminar, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nevzat expressed the emergence of metaverse economy which is to be used for purchasing, game and society platform. Assist. Prof. Dr. Nevzat emphasized that Roblox, the game platform, Decentraland, the purchasing management, The Sandbox, Spatial, Stegaverse platforms where the meetings are held, and the Vemaker platform, the community management platform, take place in the metaverse. 

Stating that the metaverse technology mainly aims to reach the Z and Alpha generations, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nevzat added that among the innovations that Metaverse will offer, many brands will put digital products on sale with metaverse shopping. Informing that new professions will emerge in the metaverse world after 2025, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nevzat also answered the questions of the students at the end of the seminar, sharing the good news that the initiatives for adding the Metaverse into the curriculum of the EMU Public Relations and Advertising Department started. Participants on the seminar were presented with “Metaverse 101” participation certificates.
