EMU Signs Collective Bargaining Agreement

The collective bargaining agreement for the administrative staff and workers which has not been signed since 2010 was signed by EMU Board of Trustees, Rector’s Office and EMU Unity and Solidarity Union (DAU BIR-SEN) at the Board of Trustees’ office on 10 June 2015.  

President of the Board of Trustees İsmail Arter, members of the Board of Trustees Hayri Orçan and Saffet Mehmetalioğulları, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and EMU Unity and Solidarity Union’s Co-chairs Buğu Sümen Cohar and Kazım Hakverdi put their signatures on the aforesaid agreement.

In his address during the signature ceremony, Arter stated that the long-delayed agreement would take effect as of 10 June 2015 and added that collective bargaining agreements carry special importance for a healthy and productive working environment. Stressing the importance EMU pays for the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Arter thanked all those who have contributed during the process.

During the ceremony where the member of EMU Board of Trustees Osman Pekineli and EMU BIR-SEN members were also present, Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam expressed his pleasure in putting his signature on the aforesaid agreement and stated that a more democratic, transparent and inclusive administrative approach has been adopted in EMU, recently. Stressing that the administration of EMU is running towards a more democratic structure every passing day, Prof. Dr. Osam added that the aforesaid collective bargaining agreement is the second agreement of its kind that has been signed by the Rector’s Office during the current year. Finally, Prof. Dr. Osam thanked all those who have contributed to the finalisation of the agreement.

Union Co-chair Cohar expressed the Union’s pride and happiness in signing the Collaborative Bargaining Agreement, which brought the discomfort within the university to an end. Hakverdi stated that the agreement is the product of valuable efforts of all parties and thanked all those who have contributed.
