EMU Signs a Collaboration Protocol with Dumlupınar Turkish Sports Club

A cooperation protocol has been signed between Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Dumlupınar Turkish Sports Club. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın and Dumlupınar Turkish Sports Club President Mehmet Evram signed the said protocol. The protocol signing ceremony held at EMU Rector’s Office was attended by EMU Board of Trustees President Dr. Erdal Özcenk, Member of EMU Board of Trustees Ersun Kutup and Dumlupınar Turkish Sports Club officials

With the aforesaid protocol, both parties aim to realize mutual cooperation in academic, sports and sports players’ health issues and to train young people who are actively involved in sports both in Famagusta and throughout the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Speaking at the protocol signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hocanın stated that they have come together for an important protocol. Prof. Dr. Hocanın emphasized that EMU, which is a state university, always supports education, research, sports and cultural activities. Stating that EMU always endeavors to contribute to Famagusta, the city where EMU is located, Prof. Dr. Hocanın underlined that with the said protocol, various types of support will be provided to the athletes of the Dumlupınar Turkish Sports Club who are studying at EMU. Prof. Dr. Hocanın wished that the signed collaboration protocol would be beneficial both for the city of Famagusta and the island in general.

President of EMU Board of Trustees Dr. Özcenk, on the other hand, stated that they have come together for the protocol to be signed with Dumlupınar Turkish Sports Club, one of the most prominent sports clubs in Famagusta, and stated that EMU will support the training of sports players. Stating that EMU continues to serve the society within its geography, Dr. Özcenk wished the protocol to be beneficial for all parties.

Dumlupınar Turkish Sports Club President Evram stated that with Dumlupınar Turkish Sports Club they have been working hard to provide young people with education, services and sports activities for many years. Talking about the difficulties of maintaining such activities in the country, Evram stated that the institutionalisation, opportunities and scholarships are vital elements for the club and thanked EMU for supporting and caring for them.
