EMU Department of Architecture Organizes Honor and High Honor Certificate Ceremony

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture organized an Honor and High Honor Ceremony for 2024-2025 Spring Semester, acknowledging the academic achievement of its students. Realized with the aim of celebrating the achievement of the students and boosting academic motivation, the ceremony was attended by EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, Faculty of Architecture Dean of the term Prof. Dr. Resmiye Alpar Atun, Chair of Department of Architecture Prof. Dr. Rafooneh M. Sani, Vice Chair of Department of Architecture Assist. Prof. Dr. Öznem Şahali, academic personnel and guests.

Osman M. Karatepe

Delivering the opening speech of the event, Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe – EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs – emphasized the importance of acknowledging students’ achievements. On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Resmiye Alpar Atun – Dean of Faculty of Architecture at that time – expressed department’s pride in these achievements, emphasizing faculty’s dedication in creating an educational environment which contributes the development of both students and academic personnel.

Rafooneh M. Sani

Chair of Department of Architecture Prof. Dr. Rafooneh M. Sani also made an address, congratulating the achieving students and expressing her joy for their hard-work, creativity and commitment. Thanking Prof. Dr. Resmiye Alpar Atun for her supportive leadership, Prof. Dr. Sani also conveyed her gratitude to Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe for the support extended to the department. Touching the importance of academic collaborations within academic units, particularly its impact on students, Prof. Dr. Sani highlighted the student-oriented mission of the department.

Emphasizing the devoted work of the Department of Architecture’s academic staff, Prof. Dr. Sani stated that the accomplishments achieved were made possible through the academics’ persistent efforts, guidance, and commitment. She also pointed out that holding the ceremony next to the student-built workshop wall symbolized the department’s student-oriented vision and the significance of teamwork.

Speaking on the ever-changing dynamics of contemporary architecture, Prof. Dr. Sani concluded her speech by highlighting the vital role of the academic staff in preparing students for the evolving professional environment.

 

Following the opening speeches, students received their certificates from EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, Faculty of Architecture Dean of the term Prof. Dr. Resmiye Alpar Atun, Chair of Department of Architecture Prof. Dr. Rafooneh M. Sani and academic staff members of the department.
