Eduniversal Ranks EMU Communication Faculty’s Postgraduate Program within the Top 200

Eduniversal, a global ranking and rating agency specializing in higher education, included Eastern Mediterranean University Communication Faculty’s Communication and Media Studies Postgraduate Program (thesis) within the best 200 programs during the 2013-2014 academic year.

EMU Communication Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan expressed the faculty’s pride and happiness in having a postgraduate program appearing among the bests for the past three years. Stating that Eduniversal specifies the quality of the postgraduate programs in 31 different fields, Prof. İrvan put forth that only 5 programs in the field of communication, one of which was Eastern Mediterranean University Communication Faculty’s Communication and Media Studies Postgraduate Program, were included in the list from Euroasia and Middle East regions.

Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan stated that the aforesaid program which started admitting students in 1998 has produced a total of 133 graduates some of whom hold academic positions at different universities upon the completion of their PhD studies.

Stating that currently the aforesaid postgraduate program boasts 44 registered students from Turkey, TRNC, Iran, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Palestine, Jordan, Zimbabwe, and Cameroon,  Prof. Dr. İrvan  put forth that EMU Communication Faculty is lucky to have such a multicultural and rich student profile.

Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan also provided information on the current accreditation projects of the faculty with a special focus on the American Communication Association (ACA) accreditation. Stating that the accreditation process in EMU Communication Faculty both includes the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan explained that along with Communication and Media Studies (thesis) Postgraduate Program, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design (non-thesis) Postgraduate Program and Digital Media and Film (non-thesis) postgraduate programs have also been included in the accreditation process.
