Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Tourism and Community Involvement Center (CIC) organized a special event for the students of SOS Children’s Village, with the sponsorship of Afik Group. Attended by 95 participants, the event held at the Cesar Blue Aqua Park in Iskele, offered students an unforgettable experience that would serve as a source of motivation for the new academic year.
The event was attended by Jack Afik, the CEO of the Afik Group; Münür Yücekal, the Program Director of the SOS Children’s Village; Bora Liman, Director of the Children’s Village; Cemil Hafız, Funding and Public Relations Director; SOS social service specialists, educators at SOS, SOS mothers, the Chairperson of EMU CIC Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazenin Ruso Kandemir and Public Health Specialist Mahroo Sadeghi.
During the event’s opening, Münür Yücekal, Program Director of SOS Children’s Village, presented appreciation plaques to the sponsor Jack Afik, his father, and the executives of Afik Group. Jack Afik shared that one of his longstanding dreams while creating Cesar Blue Aqua Park was to welcome SOS children, and he expressed his joy at seeing this dream come true.
Children were grouped by age and had a blast on colorful slides throughout the day. The program included a variety of games and competitions, with ice cream and lunch breaks adding extra enjoyment. At the end of the program, SOS Children’s Village students and staff warmly thanked everyone who helped make the event possible.
Acting Dean of EMU Faculty of Tourism Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlkay Yorgancı stated that such social responsibility projects play a vital role in social development of children. On the other hand, event coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazenin Ruso Kandemir said; “Seeing the smiles on children’s faces was worth all our efforts. We are delighted to provide the children a memorable day”.
