Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture hosted two important events. As part of 8 March, International Women’s Day, a panel “Women in Design, Education and Technology” titled was held in collaboration with EMU Academic Personnel Union (DAU-SEN) and Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Trade Union (KTOS). On the other hand, “Sound and Space” seminar was also held as part of EMU Architectural Talks series.
Moderated by METU Department of Architecture academic staff member Prof. Dr. Ayşen Savaş, ‘Women in Design, Education and Techonolgy’ panel hosted Prof. Dr. Arzu Gönenç Sorguç from METU Department of Architecture, Architect Bengisu Derebaşı and Architect İdil Bilici who shared their views and experiences on women’s role in architecture, design, education and technology. Following the panel, the Founder and Director of METU Design Factory Prof. Dr. Arzu Gönenç Sorguç joined the participants of the ‘Sounds and Space’ seminar as a guest speaker.
The events that attracted great participation ended with the Chair of the EMU Department of Architecture Prof. Dr. Rafooneh Mokhtarshahi Sani and, the Chair of DAU-SEN and EMU Department of Architecture academic staff member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ercan Hoşkara presenting the guest speakers certificates of participation.
