Turkish Maarif College Wins the EMU 29th High Schools Mathematics Competition

Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School completed the competition as the runner-up, followed by Famagusta Turkish Maarif College in third place.

Organized by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Arts and Sciences Faculty, Department of Mathematics with the contributions of Onay Fadıl Demirciler Education and Science Foundation, the final round of ‘29th High Schools Mathematics Competition’ took place at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall with the participation of Turkish Maarif College, 19 Mayıs Turkish Maarif College, Famagusta Turkish Maarif College, Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School and Hala Sultan Theology College. The results of the exciting and competitive final are as follows:

∎ TURKISH MAARIF COLLEGE team comprising of Ahmet Deniz Koçak, Aleyna Doğan and İpek Aslan completed ‘FIRST’ with their Mathematics teachers Ahcıhoca Çobanoğlu and Zehra Kavuklu Tekkan,

∎ BÜLENT ECEVİT ANATOLIAN HIGH SCHOOL team comprising of Elif Eylül Türkmen, İlknur Koçhan and Ekin Ezna Dağtekin completed ‘SECOND’ with their Mathematics teachers Nursel Altan Andız and Derviş Topal,

∎ FAMAGUSTA TURKISH MAARIF COLLEGE team comprising of Utku Ümiter, Kıvanç Salih Yılmaz and Yahya Kemal Giriş completed ‘THIRD’ with their Mathematics teachers Hüseyin Çırakoğlu and Bekir Yörük,

∎ Finishing the competition in fourth place, 19 MAYIS TURKISH MAARIF COLLEGE comprising of Ali Emre Özbek, Onur Küpcü and Muhammet Yunus Yorulmaz received the ‘ONAY FADIL DEMİRCİLER SPECIAL AWARD’ with their Mathematics teachers Ahmet Kasabalı and Nasire Nasiboğlu yönetimindeki,

∎ Finishing the competition in fifth place, HALA SULTAN THEOLOGY COLLEGE comprising of Sabahat Özkan, Aliye Altunçay and Sümeyye Uğurluel received ‘ASSIST. PROF. DR. KEMAL DEMİRCİLER SPECIAL AWARD’ with their Mathematics teachers Güldem Haktanır and Adem Eker,

This year, third place holder in the semi-final round,    

∎ NAMIK KEMAL HIGH SCHOOL comprising of Yusuf İslam Kılıç, Göksel Giyiner and Begüm Bilgin reveied ‘29TH YEAR SPECIAL AWARD’ with their Mathematics teachers Gülay Aksoy and Lütfiye Tamel.

 

Following a brief break after the competition, an awards ceremony took place where Winner Turkish Maarif College received their award from EMU VYK President Dr. Erdal Özcenk, Runner-up Bülent Ecevit Anatolian School from the Director of General Secondary Education Department Yusuf İnanıroğlu and Third-place holder Famagusta Turkish Maarif College from EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç.

 

Completing the competition in fourth place and receiving the ‘Onay Fadıl Demirciler Special Award’, 19 Mayıs Turkish Maarif College team and, the fifth-place holder Hala Sultan Theology College receiving the ‘Assist. Prof. Dr. Kemal Demirciler Special Award’ were presented with their awards by Naciye Demirciler and Sayman Demirciler, daughter and sibling of late Onay Fadıl Demirciler.

 

Onay Fadıl Demirciler Shield III

2025 competition winner Turkish Maarif College became the perpetual owner of the Onay Fadıl Demirciler Shield III for a 5-year period by having their name engraved on the shield for the third time. The shield was presented to School Principal Candan Kortay by EM VYK President Dr. Erdal Özcenk, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, Director of General Secondary Education Department Yusuf İnanıroğlu, Chair of the Department of Mathematics Prof. Dr. Nazım Çavuşoğlu and daughter of late Onay Fadıl Demirciler, Naciye Demirciler.
