Three Protocols Signed Between EMU and Ministry of Health

Three different protocols between Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ministry of Health are signed with the intention of collaborating in health, education and research studies. The signing ceremony of the protocols took place on Wednesday, 11 November, 2020 at 09:30 at the Ministry of Health. TRNC Minister of Health Dr. Ali Pilli, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu, Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Nahide Gökçora, Vice Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Mümtaz Güran, Ministry of Health authorities and press members attended the ceremony.

“We will always be in Collaboration with Governmental Institutions”

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın delivered a speech during the signing ceremony: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Ministry of Health for having us here today. Eastern Mediterranean University is a state university. As EMU, we always desire to take steps forward in terms of serving the society in cooperation with the relevant institutions of our state. Today, we will sign very important protocols with the Ministry of Health in respect to realizing our desire. Two of the protocols to be signed today are the continuation of existing protocols between EMU and Ministry Health and, consist of various updates. The third protocol is related to the joint use of our Ministry of Health's doctors, hospitals, health institutions and our university's staff, staff infrastructure in the fields of education and research and, conducting research for educational purposes. I strongly believe that both institutions are to be greatly benefited from the protocol”. 

“A Successful Work realized Together”

Prof. Dr. Hocanın continued his words with; “Within the scope of one of the protocols, a collaboration in common grounds of Health Sciences, Pharmacy and Dentistry Faculties is available. We have a protocol regarding the Genetics Laboratory. As it is known, a joint laboratory is set at the Famagusta State Hospital. With the support of our university’s academic staff members and, Ministry of Health putting the existing infrastructure into use paved the way for success. I would like to thank Minister Dr. Ali Pilli for the collaborations made with us and, to our faculty’s beloved doctors and nurses. Without their help, we would not be as successful as we are now with the protocols. We thank them for contributing to the matter within their busy paces”.

“We will Continue Our Collaborations”

TRNC Minister of Health Dr. Ali Pilli also made a speech during the ceremony and said: “Today is a very meaningful day. We, as the Ministry of Health, always stand by the universities. Universities are very important and have a vital role for our country. The contributions of EMU are very important. First of all, EMU is a state university. We have always been in collaboration and we will continue our collaborations. The universities’ contributions play a crucial role in development of health sector in Cyprus. Apart from these protocols, we will carry out other projects in terms of contributing health sector. We are always ready to make future collaborations with our universities. I would like to thank everyone who made contributions during the process”.
Following the speeches, TRNC Minister of Health Dr. Ali Pilli and EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın signed the protocols on behalf of the Ministry of Health and EMU. Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın presented a traditional Cypriot Lefkara board to Minister Dr. Ali Pilli. The ceremony ended with a group photo shoot.
