Students of EMU Civil Aviation, Cabin Services Program Visited Ercan Airport

Students of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Tourism Faculty Civil Aviation Cabin Services program took a technical trip to Ercan Airport. Within the scope of the technical trip organized with the contributions of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Civil Aviation Department Directorate and Pegasus Airlines officials, the students had the opportunity to examine the units involved in flight operations. Tourism Faculty academic staff member Sen. Inst. Aslı Akı accompanied the students in the said trip, which was organized so that the students could observe how the theoretical knowledge they learned in the course is put into practice.

EMU Civil Aviation Cabin Services students visited the Ercan Airport apron, ground handling services and maintenance office and received detailed information about the the personnel operations. Starting from meeting the passenger on the ground, they had the opportunity to receive training on the aircraft of Pegasus Airlines, during which detailed information was given about the in-flight services provided on board and the relevant duties and responsibilities. At the end of the training, students had a chance to examine and observe emergency equipment, opening and closing of the doors and over-wing exits, in-flight arrangements, announcement system and in-flight entertainment system, aircraft galley layouts, ovens, kettles, coffee pots and coffee machines (Hot cup and Coffee maker), toilet fire systems, oxygen systems and general aircraft information.

Providing information on the subject, EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that the students of the EMU Civil Aviation Cabin Services program are trained as cabin attendants who have sufficient knowledge and equipment both theoretically and practically. Stating that the program has attracted great interest, Prof. Dr. Kılıç underlined that in line with the development and growth of the aviation sector, graduates pursue employment opportunities easily. Stating that the said trip is extremely important in terms of gaining practicality and seeing the actual practice, Prof. Dr. Kılıç thanked Sen. Inst. Aslı Akı, TRNC Civil Aviation Department Directorate, Pegasus Airlines and Ercan Airport Police officials who made the trip possible.
