A seminar titled “Historical Origin of the Tree-Human Relationship and the Physical, Visual and Sociocultural Base of Monumental Trees” took place at the Faculty of Tourism in the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU). The seminar was organized by the group “Her Daim Dostlar” who started to concentrate their efforts on the protection and care of monumental trees, after the incorrect trimming of the monumental sycamore tree located in the Namık Kemal Square in Famagusta. The seminar was presented by Prof. Dr. Unal Asan.
The seminar took place on the 23rd of August 2016 at the Faculty of Tourism amphitheatre. During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Asan conveyed to the audience his observations regarding monumental trees in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). He also gave extended information about the care and protection of these very valuable trees.
