Prospective Journalists Defend their Newspaper Projects

Within the framework of the graduation project GAZE 482 course, students of Eastern Mediterranean University Communication and Media Studies Faculty, Journalism Department defended the newspaper projects they prepared in front of a jury. In this respect, Akın Bodur, Başak Şerbetçioğlu, Burak Sevinç, İpek Efedayıoğlu and Eser Karataş presented their newspapers to a jury formed by academicians and journalists.

Following their presentations, prospective graduates responded to questions and received recommendations on the content and design of their newspapers. The project evaluation jury was formed by Aysu Basri Akter from Genç TV, Sami Özuslu  from Sim TV, Anıl Işık from Cyprus Today, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanife Aliefendioğlu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy.

Course coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanife Aliefendioğlu, Journalism Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurten Kara and academic staff member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy stated that students’ projects have been developed with full cooperation as a team and with a careful consideration of the selection of the agenda, content, visuals and news drafts.

Among the projects presented to the jury were different dimensions of the Cyprus Conflict, new developments in energy and gas, the effects of Arab Spring, Roman and Maronite minorities in Cyprus, festivals, celebrations and protests.
