Oratorio for November 24th Teacher’s Day Held at EMU

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education held an oratorio for November 24th Teacher’s Day. The event was held on November 23rd 2018, Friday (10:00) at the Activity Center. The “November 24th Oratorio” conducted by Faculty of Fine Arts Education chair Prof. Memduh Özdemir and conductor Erkan Dağlı was successfully performed by the students of the Department Choir.

During his opening speech, Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam wished a happy Teacher’s Day to all educators who, as stated, help in the development of individuals, modernisation of societies and forming a civilised world order; and who are never forgotten by their students. Prof. Dr. Vancı Osam said that being a teacher is also being a life-time student and educators should internalise learning throughout their lives. Prof. Dr. Vancı Osam stated that the key to being a good educator is to be a good person who is virtuous, knowledgeable, willing to improve, courageous, noble, patient and imaginative. Prof. Dr. Vancı Osam concluded his speech with wishes of solving the occupational and working condition problems of educators who have given their hearts to pursue this path. Following Prof. Dr. Vancı Osam’s speech, the Department of Fine Arts Education Choir performed delightful poetry readings and songs with Erkan Dağlı as their conductor and accompanied by Prof. Memduh Özdemir’s piano performance.

In addition to EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Halit Tanju Besler, Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova, Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu Oğurlu and Prof. Dr. Naciye Doratlı, Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Nahide Gökçora, Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Hakan Ulusoy attended the oratorio accompanied by many faculty members and students. The event ended with the presentation of flowers to participants.
