Oktay Öksüzoğlu Meets the Students of EMU Turkish Language and Literature Department

Organized by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, the cine-vision show and conference titled “History of the Cyprus Turkish Resistance” were given by Retired Director of the Information Department of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Poet/Writer Oktay Öksüzoğlu. Students showed great interest in the conference during which EMU Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan and Head of Turkish Language and Literature Department Prof. Dr. Adnan Akgün were also present.

Delivering the opening speech of the conference, Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Özarslan thanked Oktay Öksüzoğlu, one of the prominent poets and writers of the TRNC, for participating in the conference and sharing his new book and his experiences with the students. Prof. Dr. Özarslan informed the participants about Öksüzoğlu's background and current practices. Then Oktay Öksüzoğlu presented the book "The Epic of the Liberation of the Turkish Cypriots" to Prof. Dr. Özarslan. At the same time, Prof. Dr. Özarslan and Prof. Dr. Akgün presented Oktay Öksüzoğlu a certificate of appreciation.

Oktay Öksüzoğlu shared his new book “The Epic of the Liberation of the Turkish Cypriots” with the students at the conference. Students had the opportunity to listen to the history from Öksüzoğlu, who experienced the Turkish Cypriots’ struggle for existence. Students followed Öksüzoğlu's presentation with interest.  Öksüzoğlu also provided information about the works he has offered to the Turkish Cypriot Literature and talked about his memories as a mujahid. At the end of the conference, the students had the opportunity to ask Öksüzoğlu various questions of interest.
