TRNC Minister of Finance Zeren Mungan visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam on Thursday, 19 March 2015.
Prior to the meeting, Minister Zeren Mungan held a press conference and stated that as a prominent institution of higher education, Eastern Mediterranean University produces professionals who contribute to the betterment of both our country as well as others. Minister Mungan also added that graduates of EMU are at the same time the representatives of our country.
Minister Mungan also pointed media’s attention to the structure in EMU and stated that EMU should be an autonomous university regarding all its operations.
Minister Mungan stated the purpose of his visit to EMU as information exchange regarding the possible collaborations that may take place between EMU and his ministry. Putting forth that EMU has always been supporting governmental organisations by carrying out various projects with government departments including the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister Mungan expressed their intention in collaborating with the university in this respect. Mungan added that his department will be interested in receiving training from EMU on effective communication skills as well as the preparation of public service broadcasting on tax payments.
EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam stated his pleasure in hosting Minister Zeren Mungan and added that as a large scale institution of higher education, Eastern Mediterranean University would be more than happy to support the government and the public with their expertise. Giving examples from the current projects the university has undertaken so far such as with the Ministry of Health, Prime Minister’s Office and many other state organisations, Prof. Dr. Osam thanked Minister Mungan for valuing EMU. At the end of the visit, Prof. Dr. Osam presented a plate to Minister Mungan.
Among notable names attending the meeting were Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen, Vice Rector for Financial Affairs Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu, Ministry Undersecretary Emete Baylan and EMU Public Relations and Press Office Director Derviş Ekşici.
