Kyrgyzstan Assembly TRNC Friendship Group Deputy and Group Chair of Fatherland Party Dastanbek A. Djumabekov paid a courtest visit to Eastern Mediterranean University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam. During the visit which took place on 20 May 2015, both parties exchanged information on prospective academic collaborations and future projects.
TRNC Economics and Tourism Representative Dr. Tayseer Al Shanableh and Şevket Erhat from TRNC Ministry of Exterior also attended the meeting. Stating that Eastern Mediterranean University is the largest institution of the TRNC, Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam added that EMU boasts students from 120 different countries and around 80 students from Kyrgyzstan.
Expressing his pleasure in the visit, Prof. Dr. Osam offered one PhD scholarship to a Kyrgyz student to be recommended by Dastanbek A. Djumabekov. Expressing his appreciation and gratitude for the scholarship offer, Djumabekov gave information about their projects on the establishment of a united Turkish World improving solidarity amongst Turkic nations. Comparing the size of Eastern Mediterranean University with other universities in Northern Cyprus, Djumabekov expressed his fascination with EMU.
Djumabekov stated his happiness for Kyrgyz students studying in EMU, and added that these students seriously contribute to the promotion of the country. At the end of the meeting, Djumabekov once again expressed his happiness in visiting Eastern Mediterranean University. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam presented a frame made of silk cocoon to Djumabekov to mark his visit to EMU.
