Journalist Agnieszka Rakoczy was at EMU for Career Week

Within the scope of Career Week organised by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Alumni Communication and Career Research Center (MİKA) in collaboration with faculties and academic units, experienced journalist Agnieszka Rakoczy came together with students at the Communication Faculty.

Agnieszka Rakoczy, who attended Career Week after receiving an invitation from the EMU Communication Faculty, Department of New Media and Journalism, shared her experiences with students. Touching upon the roads she had to cross before becoming a journalist, Rakoczy delivered an interactive presentation during which she answered questions from students and members of academic staff.

In relation to a student question regarding the path she follows to make good pieces of news, Rakoczy stated: “I find sources in addition to the facilities provided to me in order to obtain their ideas and views.” Indicating that sources are important, Rakoczy noted that it is vital to evaluate and filter all information in order to be an impartial journalist.

Rakoczy concluded by stating: “If you want to do journalism correctly you need the help of other people which you can get by meeting and obtaining their thoughts. It is important to be careful about the anonymity of sources.”
