Important Achievement of EMU Architecture Faculty Master’s Program Students

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Architecture Faculty, Department of Architecture Master’s Program (non-thesis) students won the “People’s Choice” award of the prestigious design competition “Athenaeum – of World Architecture ’20: Brazil” with their project titled “The Hovering Building”. Khadidja Moussa Abakar, Dana Amro and Farbod Fathi participated in the competition with the project they prepared for their MARC591 course. Course conveners Gaye Şenyaşa and Zafer Cafer Volkan stated that they are always made proud by the success of their students.

About The Competition

Today architects don’t just design buildings, they design ecosystems. This has significantly expanded the role of architecture. As we enter 2020, changing definitions are becoming clearer. As architecture evolves, themes continuously shift, leaving behind amazing trails. In the context of South America this is more apparent than ever. Framing the world capital architecture as a place of dialogue, the time to build architecture for architecture is now. The word “Athenaeum” in the 21st century is more than just a space for learning. The jury of the competition is comprised of world renowned designers, professionals and academicians.
