The first Gülsin Onay Piano Festival will be taking place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of July 2019 as a result of a collaboration between the Famagusta Municipality, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and the Cyprus Polyphonic Choirs Association. The Piano Festival will be taking place for the first time at the TRNC at Rauf Raif Culture and Congress Center in Famagusta. The festival aims to contribute to Famagusta and the country’s culture, introduce amateur pianists at all ages by allowing them to take to the stage and show what they have been working on, provide contributions to pianists by allowing them to develop their repertoires as a result of listening to other pianists and have their academic education and artistic traits be evaluated.
Cypriot pianists Esra Poyrazoğlu Alpan and Arman Ratip will be delivering concerts at the festival that will also feature piano workshops and seminars.
The opening concert of the festival that will feature many piano instructors will be delivered by famous Turkish pianist Gülsin Onay. The festival in memory of Cypriot piano instructor Jale Derviş is being organized by Cyprus Polyphonic Choirs Association chorists, choir chef Erkan Dağlı, Rana Uluçay and their executive board member Esra Uluçaylı.
