Gathering of the First Students of EMU Faculty of Law Takes Place

The first students and graduates of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Law came together at the event titled “The Gathering of First Students of EMU Faculty of Law” which took place between November 16th –18th 2018.

The event was organised by EMU Faculty of Law lecturers, also being the first graduates of the faculty, Assist. Prof. Dr. Pervin Aksoy İpekçioğlu and Assist. Prof. Dr. Demet Çelik Ulusoy as well as Lawyer Evrim Eminağa and Özşen Anış Mehmetalioğulları. The theme of the event was selected as “Year 2000, the Millennium Graduates”. The event begun on November 16th 2018, Friday with the arrival of graduates from Turkey and Cyprus.

After meeting in front of the EMU Faculty of Law building, the participants then gathered at the LA2 Amphitheatre for a “Symbolic Class” by EMU Faculty of Law lecturer Prof. Dr. Turgut Turhan. The first students and first graduates of the faculty presented a gift to Prof. Dr. Turhan at the end of the class. After a short EMU campus tour, the participants then conducted a dibbling ceremony in memory of the late EMU Faculty of Law Founding Dean Prof. Dr. Aydoğan Özman, Faculty of Law ex-Dean Prof. Dr. Esin Konanç and EMU Faculty of Law graduates who lost their lives at young ages: Pınar Akman, Veysel Bülbül and Barış Kurt.

The “Homecoming Reception” took place at EMU Beach Club where EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Metin Gürkanlar were also present. The event ended with the gift presentations to first students and first graduates of the faculty. The participants thanked EMU Faculty of Law and EMU Rector’s Office for organising such an event.
