Fırat Çırak Basketball Tournament organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Sports Affairs Directorate concluded on 10 March 2025 with the final matches held at the Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Complex. Teams of Faculty of Arts and Sciences and, Faculty of Communication competed against each other in the final round which ended with a score of 34-24. Faculty of Arts and Sciences defeated its opponent and completed the tournament in first place. The Faculty of Communication finished the tournament as the runner-up.
In the third-place match of the tournament, the Faculty of Pharmacy team defeated the Security Affairs Unit team with a score of 20-8, securing third place in the tournament. At the end of the matches, the Security Affairs Unit finished the tournament in fourth place.
Special Category Awards Presented
As part of the tournament, participants were recognized with awards in various special categories. Mehmet Aslan from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences was honoured as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Deniz Atalar received the Fair Play Award. Mert Koçer from the Faculty of Communication was awarded Best Rebounder, and his teammate Metin Ersoy earned the title of Best Defensive Player.
The ranking players were presented with their awards by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, EMU Board of Trustees (VYK) Members Beyhan Gürgöze and Güneş Güneşoğlu, Sports Affairs Directorate Coordinator Aydın Kayol, Sports Affairs Directorate Unit Chief Osman Konnolu, Sports Affairs Directorate Basketball Trainer Cüneyt Doğan, late EMU personnel member Fırat Çırak’s spouse Yeşim Kapsıl Çırak and daughter Dilayla Çırak.
