Environmental Awareness Education to the Students of EMU Education Faculty, Elementary Education Department

Within scope of the10th International Career Days organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University Alumni Communication and Career Research Directorate (EMU-MIKA),  a seminar on “Environmental Education in Early Childhood Education” was held by the EMU Education Faculty, Elementary Education Department. Biologist and Environmental Education Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot attended the event as the speaker.

In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaşot emphasized the importance of providing environmental education to children without creating ecophobia in the early childhood education process, and underlined the duties and responsibilities of teacher candidates in environmental education. Explaining the importance of teacher candidates’ self-development on the subject, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kasot shared information about the wetlands, flora and fauna in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with the students, also helping to the teacher candidates getting to know the natural environment they live in. At the end of the event, which garnered great attention from the students of the Department of Elementary Education, Pre-School Teacher and Elementary School Teacher Program, Chair of the Elementary Education Department Prof. Dr. Ayşe Işık Gürşimşek presented a plaque of appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaşot.
