Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Health Sciences, Sports Sciences Department 3rd Year Student Mustafa Alnar, who is the European U23 Billiards Champion in 8-ball discipline, and EMU Arts and Sciences Faculty, Translation-Interpretation Department 4th-year student Osman Şanlısoy, who came second in Europe U23 in 9-ball discipline, paid a visit of courtesy to EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın. During the said visit, EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Hasan Demirel, Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu, Sports Affairs Director Cemal Konnolu and the trainer of the European Champion pool players Mehmet Şanlısoy were also present. Congratulating the EMU pool players who attended the visit with their trophies and medals for their success in the international arena, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hocanın presented them with gifts.
Expressing his pleasure with the success of the aforesaid EMU students in sports as well as their academic studies, Prof. Dr. Hocanın underlined that EMU always supports its sports players. EMU Sports Affairs Director Cemal Konnolu and champion pool players' trainer Mehmet Şanlısoy also provided information to Prof. Dr. Hocanın about the situation of billiards in the TRNC. Konnolu and Şanlısoy stated that the TRNC Billiards Federation has been a member of the European Billiards Federation since 2006 and attending to the international competitions. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hocanın wished Mustafa Alnar and Osman Şanlısoy continued success.
