Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) has high achievements in the sports area as well as in the academic area. EMU mens volleyball team has won the second place among 1600 participants from 30 different universities at the EUROROMA 2013 volleyball mens category tournament.
At the aforementioned tournament, chess, table tennis, athletics, football, basketball mens and womens categories were present. In 2012, EMU mens team came in third place. At the quarterfinals, they faced off against Czech Republic and won without giving a set to the opposing team and moved onto the semi-finals.
EMU volleyball team faced off against Qatar University and lost the match resulting in an elimination with a second placement.
