Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Communication Faculty, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department have been accepted as full members of “Cumulus”, the International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media.
As part of the membership application to Cumulus, which has a total of 325 members from 61 countries around the world, a comprehensive presentation was made about EMU and the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department at the "Design Cultures" conference organized by Cumulus between 8 and 11 June. After the presentation, a special commercial film, screened for the participants, was highly appreciated.
The said membership decision has been taken unanimously by the member universities at the General Assembly held every year by Cumulus and this year in Rome, Italy. Cumulus stands out as one of the most prestigious associations in the world in the field of art and design education and research. With this membership, EMU Communication Faculty, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department paved the way for more efficient collaborations with prestigious universities providing education in the field of art and design.

Making a statement regarding their acceptance as a full member of Cumulus, EMU Communication Faculty, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department Chair Assist. Prof. Dr. Fırat Tüzünkan said, “As a department, it is among our priorities to establish international connections and to offer our students an integrated education with the whole world, thanks to these connections. Our Cumulus membership will allow us to further expand the network of our division, which already has extensive international connections. In addition, this membership will make EMU one of the world's leading institutions in education and research, in the field of art and design. With this membership, our students will have the opportunity to share their art and design works with a much wider audience and to participate more comfortably in international events in the field. From this perspective, being accepted to a very prestigious membership like Cumulus is a very important and major achievement for us.
